Goodnight Poem by Walter Reed

Goodnight

I don't want to say goodnight,
for the hours without you are endless.
I impatiently await the daybreak,
and try to come to my senses.
As each hour passes,
brings me closer to my love.
Yet each second feels like eternity,
as I hear the clock ticking above.
It feels like madness,
that she's not in my arms tonight.
My soul hurting from this abrupt departure,
my eyes longing to regain its sight.
Cause it was perfect in the beginning,
as the seconds ticked away.
And now if feels distant and cold,
as i try to justify my need to stay.
Yet our lives are forever intertwined,
equally wanting more.
But the fate we live today,
burns loneliness to my core.
So tonight is my last goodnight,
cause I can no longer stay here not whole.
Yet my heart speaks to you often,
As I piece together my soul.
