Goodnight & Good Luck Poem by Harlequin Rose

Goodnight & Good Luck

I wish there was a reason
but none exists for me
the true colors of a grey diamond
a dying girl
a burden
a lonely soldier who was raised in love
and lost in the radiance of
a beautifully flawed mind
lacking the self discipline
to make more of herself
too busy feeling sorry for herself
making up the reasons
why everyone else doesn't want her
her soul is rotten
not even god wants this one
he creates miracles
but there are things that take time and shame
see she can't remember a time when she felt needed
and so she escapes her life by daydreaming
that she's on the world's stage
and for once people love her
for who she is
rather than who she's been
the lies she's told
the hearts she's broken
but for now
she shies away from affection
and feels the depths of her lonliness like never before
she turns around
and sees the past
but there is no one standing there
there are only ashes drifting
from all her burning bridges
she's hurting
but she can't blame anyone for walking away
because they've all got a theory about
the bitterness they see in her eyes
the fury
the sadness
the torture
she's empty
hollowed out of any substance that might
give her spirit meaning
her heart pumps with the rage of self hate
and in her private place
where no one can find her
she dreams of death
where nothing can harm her anymore
where she can't hate herself
or disappoint herself anymore
she hears the wind calling her
the storm is coming
she is going to be taken adrift
taken away from all of this
a last conversation with the world
she leaves behind drops of her blood
she leaves behind scars of her love
but there is no one there to wish her
goodnight
and good luck.
