Grace Poem by The Poet Darkling

Grace

I could hear God's words echo in my head
While in the background played a hymn,
"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
Remains with me and I with him "

"Come now little Grace, we are almost there, "
I took her tiny hand in mine
"I'm sure there'll be cake and ice cream to eat"
She came easy, without a whine

"Happy is he who seizes your children
And smashes them against the rock"
How blessed am I? For surely the Lord's hand
Was that which brought me to your flock

Thus, she was led like a lamb to slaughter
After kissing daddy goodbye
Surely an angel would have stayed my hand
If God didn't want her to die

In a vile letter of confession
I can be quoted as to say,
She was sacrificed a virgin, intact
I could not touch her in that way

After the act, I wasted no meat
She made up my meals for a week
I consumed her whole, her body, her soul
With a tear sliding down my cheek

Little Grace Budd was only 10 years old
When with my ‘implements of hell'
I took miss Grace in Holy Communion
And that night, my soul I did sell

Then, like Pontius Pilot, I washed my hands
The water brackish with her blood
While on television a mother pleads
"Find the gray man and find Grace Budd"

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A narrative poem about Albert Fish, convicted child serial killer, pedophile, sadomasochist and cannibal...Grace was not the first nor the last of his victims...He wrote a vile and disgustingly accurate confession letter to Grace's parents which ultimately led to his arrest.
