Grazing Upon A Hill Poem by Marilyn Lott

Grazing Upon A Hill

One sunny day I noticed
That way up on a hill
Several cows were grazing
Everything so peaceful and still

They didn’t seem to notice
That I was watching them
So I grabbed a digital camera
And my shooting then began

The hill had dips and dents
So lumpy and uneven it was
Some cows lay in the hollows
Calves resembled small black fuzz

Some curled up not minding
They didn’t even have a bed
The whole world was their bedroom
Nature’s open space instead

It seemed as though they enjoyed
One another’s company
Out in the wild blue yonder
No even the shade of a tree

Can you imagine just how simple
How easily we would be fulfilled
If we were a cow instead of a person
Just grazing upon a hill?
