(growing Pains) 10. Late Poem by Janice Windle

(growing Pains) 10. Late

Rating: 3.0

'Late, ' says the face of the childminder.
My daughter watches Zebedee
impassively.
Her silence says,
'Late again.'
Her small voice says,
'Hello Mummy, ' from far, far away.
I was even later yesterday.

The understatement and the slight sketch of the words tells it all. What's left unsaid is so real and cuts to the bone. love Dónall Dónall
