Growing Up Poem by Akinde Joy

Growing Up

Rating: 4.5

Suddenly everything starts to change
You notice your body changing
You feel strange, uncomfortable and excited

New emotions start to grow
Just like the blooming flowers
Most times you find it good
Loving the voice of nature
And you feel the need to roll

Most times people tell you
You not a kid anymore
The eagerness to explore the world
Burns like a coal furnace
Desires, wants and needs overshadows the mind

Sometimes hard to understand your emotions
You meet all sort of people, different race
The Good, bad and the ugly
Growing up is not easy
And at the end we look back and smile at the exciting times.

Good depiction of the intricacies involved in the journey from childhood to adulthood, well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction. A lovely poem bristling with knowledge. Thanks for sharing Joy. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
