Guards At Border Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I wished them success and comforts
For all those who were at heights and at ports
On lands and in jungles to protect
Frontiers and air space in fact

What were they in fact serving?
Own interest or those of non-caring
Politicians and corrupt officials!
Daily country suffered with one or more denials

I wish nothing penetrates in their mind
About corrupt practices of new kind
Cornering of natural wealth and neglect of poor
What would happen if we fail to live with honor?

Country is at proxy war with colossal losses
Everybody minds loss of precious lives at enormous cost
The country is burdened with heavy expenditure
Still country is not safe and totally insecure

Those days were little quiet and did not threaten
Country's integrity and faced lesser violations even
Today almost war like situation prevails
And all the peace efforts are aimed at to fail

How much holy is the task to defend motherland?
How vital it is to keep strict vigil over vast land?
I closed eyes for moment and wished them success
They were standing on guard without any stress

Country is blessed with all kinds of faith
The people are still not afraid of death
They continue to hold holy opinion
About motherland and strong union

I wished civil population to come and realize
About hardship faced by them and oblige
With latest weapons and equipment
That shall end penetration and heavy insurgency movement
