67 years ago, recalled in a painting
Picasso’s violated Spanish soul.
The out of air war
Death realized,
with mechanical efficiency.
Our world remakes opinions
worries about results.
so when we hear about that Monday in 1937
wondering why we have to travel
so far to see a painting, and
click our tongues, wondering if outrage
is still appropriate for slaughter.
'wondering if outrage is still appropriate for slaughter'-that's a powerful line, I keep looking at its equation, it seems absurd to even wonder! Yet I too am numb hearing of slaugher so often in so many parts of the world. Someone coined the term, you know, 'compassion fatigue'
I kind of like this poem, Carlton. But you definitely don't need the first two lines. Either people know what Guernica is or they don't. The explanation is clunky and practically ruins the poem. As for traveling far to see a painting, well, I guess that's true of all paintings. Depends on your starting point.

I would like to translate this poem
If we had known the horror that would hit the world after Guernica. I'm glad you wrote this. I went to the Internet, because I wasn't educated enough to recognize the reference without research. Now that I do, I think of so many other bombings that occurred after and I wish someone had screamed loud enough, 'No more, ' after Guernica. Peace, L&T
