Hail To The Backend Poem by Kiran Pillai

Hail To The Backend

Imagine I am building a mobile app.
What comes first to me? Tech or colours?
By today's mindset, I will go with tech.
Colours and design only cover the tech.

Many souls think of presentation too early.
What shows seem more critical than what is covered.
If there is no diamond covered, dirt is meaningless.
What stays inside is always more critical.

I feel the inside story is critical and important.
The cover outside can be inconsequential.
The design outside does matter. But, how much?
A good core can always be presented in million ways.

Ten years in Indian industry saddens me a bit.
At least the folks I saw are all about front end.
I believed their story all these years; "Design in key"
Now my heart says "Hail to the back end! "

I may not know too much about the backend
It never shows explicitly in things we build.
But, when I see the Googles of the world,
Back end shines so beautifully in front of me.
