Happy Anniversary Poem by Samantha Myers

Happy Anniversary

Rating: 4.5

Has anyone else suffered a broken heart?
At least you dropped it slowly
Back into my arms.
It was cracked but you gave me glue
Except the hardest process is gluing a broken heart back together
Sleepless nights or tortured dreams
Constant need for distractions
Tears and screams about what was and could have been
This is the broken heart disease you’ve given to me.
I know you feel like you need to walk away,
I hope though that you’ll come back
Or will at least visit.
My heart aches and creaks
Screeches for relief.
I can give it nothing,
No promise I have.
All I have is the momentary calm,
That blessed calm.
I still wish though
That your love for me
Would be enough for you to
Fight and hang on to me.

Instead, I have this broken heart disease.
