Hate Poem by Raymond Farrell

Hate

Rating: 4.5

Perhaps, you were here
Before Cain slew Abel
Is there underlying fear
That stirs you up?

Fear that the one you hate
Will undermine you, outdo you
Destroy you - experts continue to debate
Why people respond with hate.

You have been here
Long enough to infest the race
Close minds, seer consciences
Totally disrupt the place.

Yet old as you are
You continue to reinvent yourself
Disguise yourself insofar
As your true intentions.

Your cleverness is to be admired
Clothing yourself at times
In garments by righteousness inspired
Donned by haters of mankind.

Other times you leave subtlety behind
And roam as a raving beast
Devouring whoever you find
In your love lost feast.

What you seek to destroy and disgrace
Has no limits, no restrictions
Of creed, culture, nationality, race
You have no preferences.

You are pervasive in man
All must guard against your sly appeal
We all should resist if we can
The temptation and subtle overtones.

I would say begone forever
I would command you if I could
Seek our acquaintance to utterly sever
And strive to replace you with good.
