Have You Ever For One Moment Poem by Francis Duggan

Have You Ever For One Moment

Have you ever for one moment wished that you were never born
Into a World where you have felt the wrath of others scorn
You do not follow the flock leader and for that they make you pay
By dismissing your opinions in a disrespectful way.

You stand up for victims of human rights abuse you stand up for refugees
Poor people forced to flee their Homelands ravaged by war, hunger and disease
These people you empathize with though not everyone with you agree
Many do lack in compassion for those in dire poverty.

Have you ever for one moment you who for others does care
Felt like packing up and leaving for to start a new life elsewhere
But there you too will find disapproval when others of you come to know
That you are one of those people who believe in a fair go

For all disadvantaged people though it does seem sad to say
That not everyone is like you and see life in such a way
Many people lack in compassion for the homeless and downtrod
And the millions of hungry children of the poor and lesser god.

Have you ever for one moment felt of life you've had enough
But you are one who hangs in there when the going on you gets tough
You have grown tired of some people who in their ways are so small
Who do not believe in the concept of a fair go for all.
