Having A Lovely Day Poem by Neil McGreevy

Having A Lovely Day

I'm having a lovely day
my pension is late, I'm putting on weight
my joints are creaking, the boiler is leaking
I can't find my keys and I've run out of cheese
but in spite of all these and a bed full of fleas
I'm having a lovely day

I'm having a lovely day
my hands are shaking, my joints are aching
my gums are bleeding, my hair is receding
the cupboards are bare and I can't climb the stairs
but nevertheless notwithstanding the mess
I'm having a lovely day

I'm having a lovely day
my eyes are fine, my teeth are all mine
I'm sixty four I can still touch the floor
I've got my gumtion and most of my functions
and on top of all that I've just got a new hat
so I'm having a lovely day

I like this one. As you say Neil, we must count our blessings despite all the hassle of daily life.
