Haylee Jade Poem by Brooke Luchich

Haylee Jade

Rating: 5.0

Everyone has a story about when they were little so I’m telling yours to you,
When your mum said she was pregnant it was definitely a dream come true.
I had always wanted a niece so out of everyone your mum told me first,
I’ll admit I cried and was filled with so much happiness I thought I’d burst.
I went to the ultrasound with your mum and dad and I heard your heartbeat,
We were all so excited about this tiny baby we were going to meet.
It took time to pick your name and yours parents changed it each day,
As the months passed it was hard to believe that you weren’t so far away.
Pop, uncle Colby and I jumped in the car quickly from what I remember,
After we got a phone call saying you were coming, on the 14th of December,
You were born at 7.31pm and you weighed seven pound seven,
A tiny, bright blue eyed baby girl, sent straight down from heaven.
I ran over to your mum to meet my new niece, Miss Haylee Jade,
You were the most beautiful baby that had ever been made.
When they brought you home no one ever wanted to put you down,
We were all happy to spend our days carrying you around.
You used to get called Buddha because of how fat you used to be,
A little chubby bubby, you were always laughing and happy.
You started growing bigger and then finally you started walking,
And there was no one as cheeky as you once you started talking.
Seemed not so long ago you weren’t even one and you were so small,
It’s hard to believe that this year you’ll be six and you’re getting so tall.
Now you have your little brother Wade, who’s almost two years old.
And you’re still beautiful and cheeky and never do as you’re told.
You have a wild imagination and you remind me so much of me,
These are the memories I have but more are added through passing days,
I hope now you know just how much you mean and that I love you always.
