He Said: Goodbye Darling Wife Poem by Joyce Hemsley

He Said: Goodbye Darling Wife

Seven years married, but romance had flown
Love had diminished and hatred had grown
She travelled her way ~ I travelled mine...
I was single again, a feeling divine.

Oh to be single again, with no spouse,
Enjoying good food and cleaning my house.
Girls sweetly smile, and they chat for a while
What a beautiful day, I am living in style.

I have jogged up the lane as free as a bird,
For almost a mile, and no voice have I heard.
That high-pitch tone is out of my life,
No more pain, no more trouble and strife.

No back-seat driver, when out for a ride,
And no wife to nag me or push me aside.
Dinners for friends always drove me insane
With mother-in-law moaning again and again.

Yes I have made up my mind to see her no more.
My freedom I cherish; I am closing the door.
Just myself and a dog for the rest of my life.
I am single again, so 'Goodbye Darling Wife'.
