Heart Of Stone - Poem by Andi Jakobs

Your eyes of emerald are the very beauty of you.
They search deep into my soul that has become so dark
And begrudgingly pull the light up through my throat.
Like a mighty sword they cut through my pale flesh,
Only leaving the naked truth for what I am.

Your magnificent smile is the essence of you.
It can brighten the entire world from the blackness
And make it shine ever so beautifully again.
Like a shining star it can guide me on my way
When I become lost in my endless thoughts.

Your touch is the warm sense of you.
Like trickling raindrops it sends shivers up my spine
And gives me a sense of security in your embrace.
With arms like towers you protect me from danger
And ward off those who dare to defy me.

Your heart of stone is the soul of you.
Heavy and cold it weighs me down like a burden,
That slings over my shoulders as it slowly crushes me.
Icy hatred veils it in a coat of love and honesty,
Until the fires of hate burn it away and leave it bare.

Your fake lies are the truth of you.
I was misguided down a path of fakeness and deceit.
Your smile that I thought shined bright was false,
The emerald eyes are nothing but a void of lost.
You are the liar; and that is all you will ever be to me.
