Heart Shaped Locket Poem by Joshua Flores

Heart Shaped Locket

Rating: 5.0

I carry a beast with me.

Not in my hand or pocket,
But carefully concealed within a heart shaped locket.

Of course this 'thing' I carry,
Is hard to hold,
And I do hold it alone,
Without being noticed or known.

I feel proud of the fact,
I have not broken nor cracked,
Under the immense strain,
That is slowly driving me insane

It is the mass I carry.
A pool of fear and loathing
A Gate way to the abyss,
And deaths gently cold kiss.

A mirror that shows the world
What hatred is when unfurled,
Like a rose of thorns
Beautiful yet deadly

It's surprising to think
That when pushed to brink
Your soul doesn't break
Even if your smile is a little fake.

Do not fear nor fret.
Your wishes and worries,
Will all be attended to,
Revenge is after all in no big hurry.

For now though take care,
And remember not to disturb the beast,
From its carefully contained place,

Not within my hand nor pocket,
But carefully concealed within heart shaped locket.
