Heart Strings Poem by James D. Faulkner

Heart Strings

She's trapped in a fantasy,
An alternate reality,
Where youth is forever
And a consequence is a fairy tale.

She's scared of the future,
That her youth will soon rapture,
And the t hings she holds dear
Will vanish before her eyes.

She's tired of waiting
For him to stop chasing
A lost cause
That calls to her name.

She reaches out for my help,
Merely to get lost in herself,
And ignore my
Whole-hearted advice.

She's angry without reason,
Saying things quite displeasing
About me
And the rest of the world.

Is this the love i've been longing,
Or just the prolonging,
Of a disasterous event?
What is love? I used to know,
But I left it behind long ago,

Oh, so long ago.
