Promise? Poem by James D. Faulkner

Promise?

Oh, my love
Won't you please help me?
I've given in to
This pain that's been sleeping
For months now, my dear,
I've bottled it up completely,
The fact that I'm scared
That you'll end up leaving
And I'll lose the only
Thing to ever make me happy.
Please just stay with me for tonight,
If not for tomorrow.
Tell me, darling,
Am I worth all this hardship?
I'll tell you I love you,
But I expect no reply
Because you desreve much better
Than some paranoid poet, such as I.
You're everything to me,
How can I return the favor?
I believe what you say,
Yet my mind isn't convinced,
Even though you're my savior.
That's why i need you to promise me,
And seal it with a kiss.

A promise is forever.
