Heartbreak Poem by Larry Oakner

Heartbreak

Rating: 5.0

When a heart breaks
does it make a sound like
a spoon cracking a soft boiled eggshell
or a sob coming from a crouch
in the corner of a bathroom
a slam of a car door
as it pulls away from a bus bench
or the silence of a swipe across
the Delete button
is it a jangle of keys
tossed on a table
the click of a latch closing
the tiny plunk of a ring
thrown into the ocean
or is it the last word
you will ever remember?
