Heaven's Choice © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Heaven's Choice ©

If I could choose a soul to be
a true friend unconditionally;
How on earth could I decide
who would stand to guard and guide
me on my ways, no matter what
to share the blame when I get caught?

Someone who will stomp my toes,
tickle me and kiss my nose!
Someone who will share their shoes
yet sometimes balefully refuse!
A argumentive sound debator,
confidante and conspirator!

Someone who will share my genes,
and stay awake by any means
to help through a sleepless night,
to tease or talk or even fight...
Who would make the time to care?
I couldn't choose, I wouldn't dare!

And so the choice is made above...
A brother, sister sent with love!

For those who have no sibling fun,
Heaven always sends someone,
not bound by blood nor second name;
A sibling friend, yet all the same!
