Heaven Sent Poem by Laurence Overmire

Heaven Sent

The seagull waits patiently
On the fence post
Oceanside of the last wave of
Longing

Peering in the beach-bound
Cottage, toasty fire at twilight's
Glimmer
Wine glass rising to frosted lips

He wonders if humans understand
The wind ways or do they
Imagine what life is like
A bread crumb away from

Heaven.
