Heavy Heart Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Heavy Heart

How oft do we travel this road of despair?
Searching and pleading for someone to care
The weight of the world I have carried for too long
On the inside feeling weak, while on the outside perceived strong
Not sure how long I can stand my ground
When my world has completely turned upside down
My mind is spinning out of control
Afraid one day I'll lose my hold
Please help me overcome this feeling
I'm anxious and barely breathing
Loneliness consumes leaving me full of doubt
Feels like my body's turning inside out
Used to believe in the promise of forever
Now falling apart, trying to hold it together
Walking this path in a maze of conviction
Sometimes hard to decipher fact from fiction
In dark times it feels the sky is always black
The world has a way of stabbing you in the back
You'll be better off in the long range
If you let go of the things you can't change
Hope opens the door for broken lives
Don't give up now, you will survive
Each dawn brings about a brand new day
A kind word can help someone find their way.
