Hell Is Here Poem by Trevor McLeod

Hell Is Here

I stood tall and strong
I loved you with all my heart and soul
you called me your soul mate
and I felt my happiness grow

but now I see you
looking around
as if looking for someone
I ask who your looking for

you only smile
and remove my ring
from your finger
and dropp it on the ground

I watch you run
and leap into the arms of another
you kiss his lips
and I hear you say
hey love

I reach down
and tr and pick up my ring
only to watch my fingers
pass through it
you come back to me
and pick the ring up

walking back over
you hand it to the man
and he gets down
on one knee
and proposes with my ring

I scream
I cry
I beg you to forgive me
you only smile at me
that beautiful smile
I had yearned to see
now feels like a knife
ripping through my heart

I feel something
behind me
I dare not turn to look
I reach for you
and watch as darkness
wraps around around my arm

I shiver and cringe at it's touch
I beg you to help me
but you are more interested
in your new man

I feel another tentacle of darkness
around my neck stopping my cry
I reach frantically for you
but nothing works

I realize how futile my attempts were
you loved another
did you ever love me
with that realization I stop fighting
I feel myself being dragged
into the consuming maw
now all I feel is pain
guess this was how it was meant to be
