Hello, Heartbreak Poem by Brittany Longwell

Hello, Heartbreak

I know the pain of love, the sting of hate.

When you look up, down and light is not seen.
'Hi, nice to meet you. Feel free to reject me at any time.'
My heart knows the anguish of hurt.
Never enough, wrong time, 'not you - it's me'.

I smile, yet my mask is soon to fade.

It laughs at me. Spits in my face knowing the victory is near.
It creeps up and steals all hope, all joy, all love.
Prancing, skipping through a field my defeat.
My smile is gone. My laugh is weak. My joy has disappeared.

Hello, Heartbreak.
