A life can change in a heartbeat.
The tides of fate ever rolling-
To a final conclusion.
The fates themselves,
Old crones and hags,
their opinion shaping ourselves
and our destiny.
Goodbye my love,
for I have been abandoned.
Snatched from a place
where all is fair
and dropped into a place
that is but Hell
for the sight of your
eyes is yet elusive.
Hark!
A twig snaps,
a whip crack
in the still air.
Is it a man
Come yonder in search?
Or a wild beast?
Ready to tear open my chest
and pluck my beating heart.
My head a-throb
with the pain of loss,
and desperation dragging
me down,
Into the black swamps of despair.
How will I escape?
My panic entangles me,
like a beast in a trap.
And food?
Where will that come from?
Will it appear,
succulent and juicy
and ready to fill my craving stomach.
Or will I lie here and die,
too weak to move,
and too hungry to care.
Death would be a blessed escape,
Compared with my current torture.
Out! Out!
I want to get out!
Up and away-
Out and away-
No-more bush,
No-more hunger.
Or down, Down, Down,
Down to Hell,
Deep as death.
Forever rest,
Forever peace,
Forever sleep.
