Her Faded Toy Poem by Nur Anis Harliani

Her Faded Toy

Rating: 2.5

It is round
And small
Just like that
Of her curling paws

This
This shade of pink
I hold
A remnant
A memory
The button nose that I used to tease

A little sister
Forever gone
Lost
But,
Always remembered

In hands' cradle
On my small lap
They fit
And motionless

It is faint
But I smell
Her fading life
And,
The visiting death

Her raspy squeaking
Anguish
Hoarse
And slowly it fade
In the soundless night

A single touch is all I needed
A single taste
Rendering my thoughts
The time when the salty dry tears
Fell

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written as a memoir of my dead little kitten, which has passed away within the confine of my hands in a cold, dark night. Her favorite cat's toy became my constant companion and whenever I smell it, I will always remember that tiny kitten who used to play with me. -_-
