Rating: 2.7

“Here! ”
she says aloud

to her
self.

“Here! ”
is one step from Heaven.

The lake
is a little piece

of shattered
glass

courting the sun’s
attention.

The word
a sprig of thyme.

Roads
scattered threads

from an overturned
sewing kit.

The horizon
resonating between

sea & sky
& why

building mountains
out of clouds

floating by

an Avalon
out of a sunset.

“Sit! ” she orders
an ecstatic Irish setter.

It licks
her now bare feet.

Even the far away sea
seems to sit for its portrait

not daring to draw
breath as the paint

captures
it.

She breaks open
the Chardonnay

toasts
herself

as the last bit of sunset

seeps into
her painting.
