Here Is Where We Are Poem by Edwina Reizer

Here Is Where We Are

Where were you so long ago,
the time when all was young?
Were you right there in front of me
with so many songs to be sung?
Music was swirling around in my head
with so many notes to be played.
Every day was a new experience
and there were many waters to wade.

Where was I so long ago
the time when all was young?
Was I right there in front of you
with so many chords to sort through?
Music was playing around in your head
with so many triads to be found.
Every day was a new learning
and many feelings came around.

Where were we so long ago,
the time when young was every day?
Were we just too naïve to know
that music got in the way?
I think back to those times and know
that what happened we cannot change.
But life has a way of catching up to you.
And so it's not so strange
that here is where we are.
