Hey Out There Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Hey Out There

Hey out there

Damn is my poor lame heart
I see those almond eyes
Fuzzy hair, skin dark
And tears in my eyes

“Let’s stop.”
“Let’s stop.”
“Let’s stop.”

I beg but deaf is heart
Tears come, tears run.

I dip in history
Cotton field, rice paddy
And the rails, empire’s.

“Let’s stop.”
“Let’s stop.”
“Let’s stop.”

A brook, stream and flood
Roll stones, cut trees, sky falls.

Damn you heart
Why so light?
Why in love?

Hey out there
Open mind; write score, make a song.
Don’t you see gorge of cheeks with tears?
Don’t hear heart shatter?

“Let’s stop.”
“Let’s stop.”
“Let’s stop.”
