Hi, You! Poem by Shazra Noor

Hi, You!

I watch you stroll towards me
It seems like all is still but you and I
In this steady moment

am swept of all sanity
and thoughts evoke in my mind
of how it is that you came to be so divine

for one who appears so peaceful
you sure stir the demons in me
as you make those ultimate strides to me

I can plot out your evenly framed form
With flawlessly curved cheekbones
and the fading brown in your skin
as you move closer to me

you look at me with your cryptic brown eyes
that spike through my body, pierce my soul
and unravel my deepest uncertainties

with your sturdy hands you touch mine
raise every hair from my now tense pores
and send nervous chills through me

my natural temperature begins to drop
as you lean in towards me
I lose track of all serenity

In attempt to elude this illusion
I hold my breath for a second
only to inhale your fresh but virile scent
which sends more current down my weakened spine

and then, with no warning
you kiss me.

steady but lenient …
your swift lips spark my nerves to restore the panic
I feel the saps in my stomach start to vaporize
the blood in my veins rushes to my heart
which battles in sweat to save me.

Your lips, your skin, your eyes, your hands
my nerves, my body, my spirit, my soul,
all tangled in this chaotic
and beautiful disaster
am perplexed

then..
you speak. “Hi”

I look up at you
still too mystified to speak

I wanna tell you that
you my dear
are not as subtle as you seem

but instead am staring at you
with what I think is a smile
…Speechless

then, finally
I re-claim sanity
‘Hi’
