Hiding Behind Confident Designs. Poem by Jessica Price

Hiding Behind Confident Designs.

Your like a spider
Weaving an intricate web
Staying hidden in its depths.
You sit back and watch all the delicious insect buzz by.
You want them all.
You eagerly await them to crawl into your trap, your alluring web.
You are confident they will come.
You await the thrill of confining them in your silk,
At your mercy,
in your power,
Just to suck them dry.
The other spiders, They watch as you again and again corner your prey,
Watching the hypnotic affect you have on them.
They watch as the savage happiness dances in your eyes eight times as strong.
There is no-one to stop you.
A spider, He warned me
as I drifted closer and closer to your intricate design,
Awed by what I thought you were.
I paused and began to see the gaping flaws.
The broken threads revealed your broken being.
You thrived only on the stupidity of others.
How they saw your web and not the grotesque insect you are
I did not get trapped in your web.
All I see is what the other spider warned me about.
So I pity you spider.
Your undeveloped ability to let others see you,
Not just the web you spin.
Someday, Someones going to come along with a broom,
And Swat you away.
