Highrise Poem by Payyton Egerstaffer

Highrise

Standing on a highrise
just cant go on
running from this life I despise
just so cold and long

Looking back on things
at the ever so sad past
cursing the master that pulls the strings
swearing today is my last

Looking down at the pavement
playing thoughts over in my head
subduing my hearts lament
ready to be dead

Standing on a highrise
ready to fall
thinking of my past
trying to forget it all

Running out of ways to vent
the reaper in my midst
going over the painful events
to many to list

So I leave this note for you
to give you the reasons why
it was the last thing I wanted to do
but I have to say goodbye

Standing on a highrise
thinking of what was said
saying my final goodbyes
when you read this ill be dead

Standing on a highrise
stepping closer to the ledge
putting a stop to my cries
I quietly step off the edge

beautiful. love it. but you betrayed your rhyme scheme in the 4th stanza.'highrise' and 'past'
