His Promises Poem by Randy McClave

His Promises

He didn't lower your taxes
He didn't get your roads fixed or your bridges built,
And he didn't get you healthcare coverage
Or lower the price of your prescriptions from guilt.
He didn't decrease the deficit
Or ended the opioid crisis,
As he promised and said that he could quiet easily
But, because of him up went all the prices.
He didn't revive the coal industry
After he promised to all the coal miners that he could,
And he didn't ever make 'covid disappear"
And he didn't make Mexico 'pay for the wall', as he said he would.
He did not once ever, "Put America First'
And he for sure never, 'drained that filthy nasty swamp'
And he never as promised showed us his taxes
On all of his campaign promises he did just tromp.
So, when you say he 'fought for you'
What you really mean is that he validated your hate,
Because, he didn't do anything for you other than that
Now look at our country's fate.
He lied and cheated and broke many laws of the land
Not one promise or oath had he kept that he made you then,
But, you'll follow him as a beaten dog follows its master
And you of course, will vote for him once again.
