His Rose Of Tarwin Poem by Francis Duggan

His Rose Of Tarwin

She is still his Rose his Rose of Tarwin though she lives far away
And she will be his Rose of Tarwin until his life's final day
It's been said that one only truly loves once and with that he would agree
And he still loves the one he once courted near where the Tarwin meets the sea.

He has known her for so many years and though they live miles apart
She still lives very close to him she lives close to his heart
Absence makes the heart grow fonder to him does still apply
And when he held her in their last embrace 'twas not their last goodbye.

The hands of time keep on turning where did the good years go
But still she is his Tarwin Rose the love he used to know
It's been fifteen years since she first went to live in the U S A
And those fifteen years have gone so quick seems just like yesterday.

His love she will return to him when the sun shine in the sky
And o'er the flat lands by the sea the dark winged swallows fly
And he will hold her in a long embrace as he often did before
On Tarwin banks where the deep waters creep towards the ocean shore.
