History Poem by Casey Stewart

History

Write it all down, everything that has ever happened,
Because our past is precious right?
Because we shouldn’t forget our roots,
So many crossing paths and mistakes made,
People met and emotions played,
Games lost and won, but what does it matter now,
Move forward with some dignity, a bit of relief
I heard a child much younger then me,
Claiming so much history, Oh the irony
When he has seen so much, yet my records are blank,
Funny how so much time can be wasted,
Look forward, forget the past
We are smarter now, but it’s all in our instincts
Behaviors learned in our past, how much thought is given?
Friends gone, faces change, history is buried,
The past is useless, accept it
A bit of history, remembered and forgotten
What has happened happened,
The future becomes the past,
Lets rewrite the books with happy tales
Lets create a better history
