HOC EST CORPUS MEUS Poem by Ruxandra Cesereanu

HOC EST CORPUS MEUS

entrails bones blood
tubes of veins and heavy skin
small craters open like fish mouths at the water's surface
black hair cut short wet tongue
short nails and teeth
this is my body I have no other
and if I had I wouldn't know what to do with it
just one's enough
one single body's enough
gets used enough
(anyway it frightens me).
