Holocaust Poem by Zoe Howarth

Holocaust

Rating: 4.0

Trapped in fear of what lays outside.
Resentfully by the rules we abide.
Screaming for freedom, for freedom of speech,
But only our hearts will hear us weep.

Betrayal I did not’ spoke foul, I did neither,
Blasphemy or cruelty I didn’t do either.
Forced to leave home for the health of my family,
Or suffer the consequences thrust upon me.

Group by group we discover new places,
Surrounded by cold, unfamiliar faces.
We get pushed, and are treated like no other man,
Get stared and pointed at, as though we’re not human.

They said we’ll survive, they said we’ll be fine,
But all I want is that home of mine.
True to my religion and true to the death,
I stay strong and proud, till my very last breath.
