Holy Angels Poem by Dr Anuja Krishnan

Holy Angels

Rating: 5.0

Walking down my memory lane,
Paused a while at my age nine.
To see myself play, on a day, fine;
Races, with class-mates, of mine!

Princes and princesses we were,
From a fanciful fairy tale, rare!
Cuddled warmly by angels holy;
Blessed where our souls wholly!

We were too young, to ponder,
And were crazy busy to wonder;
Where future will take us all;
When we no longer be small!

Learning things new was fun;
And tired were never we in sun;
Played so well when ever got time,
Laughing loudly like a wind chime!

Each time I fell sick in my bed,
“God, Heal me quick”, I prayed!
As one day lost was too much;
Of pain and loneliness in a bunch!

My class- the most infamous one;
Ill-famed as a chit chatting zone,
Wasting no fraction of time to chatter,
Each time leaves class the teacher!

Swayed the black star at our door,
Which we earned for our chatter!
Miserly did we gave it away to others,
So obsessed were we, black star lovers!

But still we had great scores in exams all,
Intelligent, talkative kids were we after all!
And how to enjoy life, it was here we learnt,
Be it learning or playing; ever gave our best!

Clean slate was then my mind;
Awaiting a guide really, kind!
So was she a perfect mentor,
Edified with her style tender!

Grounded with values moral,
She advised us not to quarrel!
As war could bring nothing,
And love could fetch anything!

If could I ever repay her goodwill someday,
I will be lucky and gay, to be born this way!
As it was her, who groomed me to be a lady;
Housing beauty and brain together in a body!

Into fragments destiny somehow sundered us,
Far and away to reach our goals, it took us!
We pursued varied careers and never met;
Till the internet helped us all to reconnect!

That’s how we met the best pals again,
Chatted at length like we did at age nine!
Laughing out loud in the cyber space,
Longed to turn back the time and space.

Like birds of same feather we are now;
Flocking together, with joy, in tow;
Down the memory lane flying in a row,
Chirped loud just like we did years ago!

Thank you! dear Facebook, Orkut and Twitter,
For we are enjoying our friendship in leisure!
Thank you! my school; Holy Angels’ Convent,
For gifting the best pals I can always count!
