Home Sweet Home Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

Has the world gone plumb mad?
wrecking the only home we've had!
poisoning the water, air and ground
the greed of the rich destroyed it pound by pound

Lovely flowers should be everywhere
and able to breathe clean fresh air
swimming in rivers clean and cool
was something we did before oil, coal
and gas companies rule

Where will we live and survive?
once we kill our planet as death thrives
can we drink a flask of bitter wine, laced in death?
while rich men count their wealth

Will money be worth the price of life?
as nature bellows and blasts with vengeful strife
can we mere humans eat a salad of green goop?
made by companies, into the water!
the sludge they dump (poison soup)

Will we fly like a meteor to another world to destroy?
where air is void or bombs deploy
land in quanity to shed fresh blood
of members of humanity called brotherhood

Once the life of blood is shed
there is no restoring life no matter the dread
a gift of life in a world of our own
where the darkness of mankind desires to stand alone
without a Creator, the majority chooses to live
as we slam in his face the gifts he gives
We manufacture and design many creations
but in doing so we pollute and poison
our home for generations
what good pray tell is money and pride?
if we pollute and destroy the place in which we reside.

Spring is a time for renewed birth, lets try resist the temptation
of littering and destroying.

For home is where the heart is.
