Hope Poem by Mfoniso Urua

Hope

The cloud is a promise the sky will burst forth with rain
Teachers are a promise our streets will not be bereft of Educated minds
Babies are a promise we will have adults tommorow
Flour is a promise we will not be starved of pastries
Men of integrity are a promise the downtrodden will receive the embrace of justice
The sun is a promise the day will be bright and beautiful
Seeds are a promise our farmlands will be adorned with plants
A smile is a promise we can spark the fire of friendship
Legs are a promise you can walk into new opportunities
Fingers are a promise we will clap again
Love is a promise we will imprison hatred

Shoes are a promise our feet will not be wounded
Light is a promise we will find our way
Readers are a promise we will not be burdened by illiterates
Time is a promise this too shall pass
One step is a promise we will begin the journey
Givers are a promise the poor will not be ignored
You are a promise the world can know some measure of peace
Fulfil the promise........
