Hope And Gloom - A Sonnet Poem by Richard St. Clair

Hope And Gloom - A Sonnet

Hope is fleeting, all we have to go on,
Times a-changing test us to our limit,
Oft our trouble's tough, we have to live it,
As on the Stream of Life we wearily row on!
Today I feel a whimsy of my years
Advancing without ceasing: thus is life,
Some days peaceful, others filled with strife
In a deafening chorus lashing my poor ears.
So many issues crowd the human race:
Yes, thoughts and actions made in ignorance
Unfolding like a Listzian Totentanz:
A tragedy all, this is, a stark disgrace.
I wait for all in this piracy-filled world
To wake afore the Jolly Roger's unfurled.
