Hoping Night Never Ends Poem by Ronald Chapman

Hoping Night Never Ends

I know that she isn't real,
That she is only a dream,
Only a fantasy I see after midnight, a lover I will never touch in reality,
Still, she is the memory of love I look for in the daylight.

Embracing me in my sleep,
Holding me so tight, I can't breathe; wishing she would never go,
A beauty that leaves me lonely with only her reflections,
At sun's dawning, each day,

Quietly waking up,
Without love for so very long,
Looking out an open window,
Seeing an empty hateful world,

Every heartbeat throbbing, with pain,
Sorrowful days, wanting night to come again, to be with her forever,
Thinking of ways, to end this agony,
And hoping night will never end.
