Hoping To Remember Poem by Ray Hansell

Hoping To Remember

Rating: 4.5

I know I'm getting old
I'm not afraid to die
When my time arrives
I'll be ready to say goodbye

There's only one wish that I have
That if I do live to be old
When people tell me many things
I can remember what I was told

But if I lose that ability
I hope God will set me free
I hope he has it in His heart
To have His angels come and take me

I know promises can't be made
I just hoped my mind is saved
That's the only thing
For which I've always prayed

I know it's very sad
When one can no longer remember
There are people who know all too well
That it affects all genders

I don't want to forget names
Or forget any place
But most of all I want to remember
You, and your smiling pretty face
