House On A Boat Poem by Ibn Ali

House On A Boat

I built my house on a boat
I've never ceased to sail
I've towered on calm waters
And cowered under towering waves
I've stared the sun in the eye
And never sought the shade
I've been to lands I've loved
But never thought to stay
I've put a message in a bottle
Then watch it washed away
Eager for my love's reply
But with no intent to wait
I've stood under heaven's roof
And contemplated fate
Humbled by its vastness
And knew that there's no escape
I've seen the sun take leave
And night turn into day
I much prefer the dawn
For the hope it bears is innate
I've built my house on a boat
It's was never breached or failed
The breeze was always constant
My house would always sway
