Howling Prey Poem by Ibn Ali

Howling Prey

He laughed at your jokes
And listened attentively
But you were never funny
Or the least bit interesting
But you were beautiful
And he patient
You lacked intuition
Like a wolf he waited
Bore his teeth
You thought he sought to greet
But he didn't admire the elegance of the deer
He only saw the meat.
