How? - Poem by Shelley Caines

How am I
supposed to handle this?
Three days at a time
without one single kiss?
How am I
supposed to cope if you
tell me that
we are through?
How will I
manage on my own?
I can't even go a day
without calling you on the phone.
How am I
going to live
if you tell me
something's got to give?
How am I
supposed to act around you
after it's over,
after we're through?
How will I
handle being without you
after it's over,
after we're through?
Please tell me this,
look me in the eye.
If we're done,
How will I?

Witten late 2004.
