How Deep The Despair Poem by Shalom Freedman

How Deep The Despair

How deep the despair
I don't want to say
Why should anyone else know
Of the sinking thoughts
The fearful anticipations
The waves and waves of regret?

In the end
At another time
In another world
I will make a happier reckoning
But for now and in these past few illness days
Down down down is what she wrote.
