How Good Again To Walk In The Sunshine Poem by Francis Duggan

How Good Again To Walk In The Sunshine

This morning I climbed out the darkened hole
And walked again in the bright light of day
The light of happiness shone in my soul
And lamp of sun shone through the clouds of gray

Yesterday I felt so sad my soul was dark
And by my bedroom window I did sit and brood
But now I feel like happy airborne lark
How good it feels to leave the darkened mood.

How good again to walk in the sun shine
And hear the magpie flute on gray gum tree
The scent of Spring and blossoms on the vine
And every bird of song pipe melody.

Yesterday the sun shone in the sky
But in my darkened hole the clouds of rain
Oh welcome to my soul the light of joy
So good to feel the warmth of sun again.
