How I Wish Poem by Valerie Dohren

How I Wish

Oh how I wish the sun would burn
forever cast in yellow -
and how I wish the moon would glow
a brighter shade of mellow.

I wish the trees would stay in leaf
with blossom never falling -
And how I wish the evening gloom
not stem the songbirds' calling.

I wish the sky was free of cloud
the world released from sorrow -
And how I wish that ev'ry dream
should last beyond tomorrow.

I wish for all the harsh things said
such words were never spoken -
And how I wish that through all time
no hearts were ever broken.

I wish that all the tears which fall
would turn into an ocean -
And how I wish that such became
an ocean of devotion.

I wish that you were back again
to be with me forever -
And how I wish that caring hearts
would always be together.

I wish that love would come to me
all loneliness forsaken -
And how I wish the life I knew
had never yet been taken.

Oh how I wish there was a God
His presence all-embracing -
And how I wish that He would end
the troubles all are facing.

Oh how I wish, yes how I wish
the world would turn in glory -
and how I wish, oh how I wish
there was a sweeter story.
